Vote “YES” to chickens!

In case you’re wondering where the heck I’ve been, I’m still here. Funny where life leads you; how did Hubby and I ever become chicken activists? The last few weeks we’ve been running around town doing a secret chicken shoot, attending Chickens Anonymous meetings to strategize over the bylaw battle, and give interviews for both magazine and the local news station. Wow, all this fuss over some chickens.

If you missed the Global News segment where Hubby gave the interview (and I chickened out), here is the link.

We have until February 24th, to convince Committee Members the benefits of keeping chickens, and how to do it responsibly. The February meeting is where the Licensing Committee will decide if they will take this issue to City Council. If the Committee votes no, then we, along with an underground of other chicken owners, will have to live as outlaws for another three years before this issue can be addressed again. (Nooooooooo!!!!)

Here’s how you can help and give hens a chance:

1. Visit Toronto Chickens and sign the petition, and also get more details on how you can help.

2. Vote YES! and feel free to add a good comment or two.

Why we do we have chickens? Aside from fresh amazing eggs, they also make fun pets and garden companions. Every gardener should have a few. We only have little over two months, so please sign the petition. Thank you!
