I love Fall…the familiar smell of wood smoke, the mixed layers of textured sweaters, the cool crisp air, the pulled pork sandwiches…This past October, Hubby and I attended the fourth annual Picnic at the Brick Works in support of Evergreen and Slow Food Toronto, for the very first time. Fourth annual? Where the heck have I been? Smoked ham on cheddar biscuits, pulled pork sandwiches (yes, I know I mentioned it already), lamb kabobs, pork bellies, artisanal cheeses & breads, and apple cheddar tarts were only a small part of what we ate (or a large part…sigh…depending on how you look at it). A truly wonderful way to spend an afternoon – chit-chatting with Ontario chefs and local producers, finding out more about the food in our own backyard, seeing what’s still growing in the garden, and picking out a few pumpkins.
Me: “hon, you awake? I need you to talk to me here in this section…”
Hubby: “zzzzzz _ phufff — zzzzzz _ phufff — zzzzzz _ phufff— zzzzzz…”
